SXSW 2018: Success!
Oh SXSW, what a beautiful and fast-paced and magical time you are! We were thrilled to participate in multiple events throughout the two weeks of SXSW this March. Here are some of our favorite moments and highlights:
SXSWedu Startup Spotlight
We were honored to be chosen as one of 18 education startups selected by the SXSWedu team to take part in a Startup Spotlight event. Over the course of several hours, we met folks from all facets of the education world and shared our products with them. It was exciting to meet people with so many diverse perspectives and experience their in-person reactions to the disruptED experience.
SXSWedu Launch Pitch Competition
Our Founder Kate Peiler represented disruptED as one of ten companies who were selected by SXSWedu to pitch their education startup to a panel of judges and a room full of conference attendees. It was inspiring to learn about all of the fantastic companies doing important work to improve education worldwide. Following the pitch event, our team got to connect with the other participants over happy hour, followed by the winner announcement. Though we were not selected as the winner of the pitch competition, it was thrilling to take part in this event.
ATX Startup Crawl
Every year at SXSW, Capital Factory hosts a massive startup crawl around multiple tech offices in the city. We participated in the event, which attracted nearly 10,000 tech enthusiasts, and we shared our experience with crawlers. This event served as another opportunity for us to share our passion and products with the world, this time, to a broader audience of SXSW attendees.
Vox Media Startup Story Competition
Our friends at Vox Media put together a fantastic multi-day event at SXSW 2018 called The Deep End. Featuring live podcast recording sessions, yummy bites, and talented individuals to connect with, this event was one of the hot spots to be during SXSW. We were fortunate to be invited to pitch disruptED in their Startup Story Competition, which was exhilarating and great practice!
Overall, SXSW 2018 was a massive success for us! We got to share our story and products with so many new faces, make connections with brilliant folks from all over the world, and grow closer as a team and community. Thanks to everyone who contributed to making SXSW 2018 such a wonderful experience!
